Home Health Care Fitness
Purpose:
  • increased functional strength will help to increase quality of life
  • prevention of serious injuries
  • increased morale and energy
  • stay in home longer
  • increased independence
What:   focus on strength, balance, flexibility and cardio
Who:     an individual to 4 people
Where:  in-home
How:     bands, furniture, own body weight and any other fitness equipment available
How long:  Ten sessions, 45 minutes -1 hour sessions

Group Health Care Fitness
Purpose:
  • increased functional strength will help to increase quality of life
  • prevention of serious injuries
  • increased morale and energy
  • increased independence
What: focus on strength, balance, flexibility and cardio
Who:   any group of 4 or more
Where: Residences\nursing homes,  or any organization wanting this for their group
How:   bands, furniture, own body weight, use of fitness equipment at location
How long:  Ten sessions, 45 minutes -1 hour sessions

A Functional Fitness Fanatics Class
A 45 min fitness class designed for functional
strength, flexibility and balance. Monday &
Thursday mornings at 9:30am, Barrie's Grace
United Church.  Cost $3.00.  Part of the money
goes to charity

Research shows that 65% to 90% of a person’s strength
can be regained in an aging population.(T.L. Dupler and
C. Cortes, 1993) This could be the difference between
being bed ridden, in a wheelchair, using a walker, using
a cane, to walking without an aid.  This increase in
functional strength could make a huge difference for an
individual’s self –esteem, independence, dignity and
quality of life. This strength is so important to the
everyday things we all have to cope with. Such things as
climbing stairs, sitting on the toilet, going for a walk and
having the energy to do what we want to do. Our
independence and freedom is such a wonderful thing,
but it is not realized until much later as we loose these
precious qualities. Once this independence is lost our
quality of life diminishes.

In the last 7 years Personal Coach has been working
with 55+ population for functional strength, balance
and flexibility.  This experience has shown that there is a
weak  link with the aging population and quality of life.  
Personal Coach’s hope is that through wellness and
fitness training sessions, we can build a stronger link
between aging and quality of life.
